Thanks to the financial and technical support of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Green Center Capital was able to structure four Green Neighborhoods for Malaga Bay in the Pacific Ocean of Colombia. The community installs photovoltaic energy through Colombia´s Fenoge Fund and this enables them to get access to potable water through solar pumps, to educate the children through more extensive study hours, to develop microenterprises to sell frozen fish and many more benefits.

Together with Richard King, head of the Solar Decathlon Competition in the Department of Energy of the United States, and Rodrigo Guerrero, mayor of Cali; our Founder Marcela Huertas brought for the first time to Latin America and the Caribbean the Solar Decathlon in 2015. The event had an additional edition in 2019 and has been held so far in Universidad del Valle of Cali, Colombia.

Fabio Chavez from Siemens Energy and Marcela Huertas from Green Center Capital in alliance with Juan Pablo Bonilla from the Inter-American Development Bank and René Gómez García from CAF Latin American Development Bank launched in Costa Rica on April, 2022 “Siemens Energy Decarbonization Program for the Caribbean”. 

Our Founder, Marcela Huertas, raised for TermoNorte Thermoelectric Plant, the capital needed to build a 100MW plant with

the funding provided by BlacRock in Colombia. This was the first energy private sector operation for BlackRock in the country and provides energy for the population in the Atlantic Coast.
